The
Flowering Plants & Ferns of Mt. Diablo
Barbara Ertter & Mary Bowerman
Mary
Bowerman's original book on Mt. Diablo flora was issued in 1944
as a doctoral dissertation. This edition is an updated edition.
The topography of the mountain is discussed in detail as a background
for the distribution of the plant groups. |
 |
The
plant groups are determined by exposure slope and
character of substratum. Plants in each group are
then listed. The blooming seasons are also discussed.
One section deals with the effect fire has on certain
plants. There are black |
|
|
and
white photographs throught the book. The position of
the four ponds on the south side of the mountain
are shown on a map. Only one, Hidden Pond is permanent.
All in all, this is a very detailed account of the plants
of the flora of Mt. Diablo.
